Dr. Nadia Vertti Quintero

Nadia received her Bachelor degree in Physics Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey (Mexico) in December 2010, with high honors.

She did two scientific internships at the Laboratoire d'Hydrodynamique de l'École Polytechnique (LadHyX) in Paris, France under the supervision of Prof. Paul Manneville and Prof. Charles Baroud. These internships triggered her interest in microfluidics and her applications in life sciences, leading her to the decision of taking a Master degree in Bioengineering.

Nadia finished her Master program of Bioengineering at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland in summer 2013. She did her Master project "Real-time ion sensing with striped gold nanoparticles" in the Laboratory of Life Sciences Electronics (CLSE) under the supervision of Prof. Carlotta Guiducci.

In September 2013, Nadia joined the deMello group as a PhD student for studying the stochastic variability in the stress response system of C. eleganswith microfluidic systems. This project is done in collaboration with the Chemical and Biological Systems Engineering Laboratory leaded by Prof. Rudiyanto Gunawan.

On March 28th, 2018, Nadia successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled "In vivo dynamic characterization of heat shock response in Caenorhabditis elegans using high-throughput microfluidic systems and mathematical modelling".
