Tianjin received her bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China in 2009.She moved to ETH Zurich and got her degree as Master of Science in Medicinal and Industrial Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2012. She did her master thesis in Novartis NIBR Basel on the optimisation and scale-up of  in-vitro refolding of a recombinant serine protease, under the supervision of Prof. Ursula Quitterer (ETH) and Dr. Paul Ramage (Novartis). She worked as a research assistant in Prof. Massimo Morbidelli's group at ETH in December 2012 developing new technologies for mineral separation.She moved to the deMello group in August 2013.
