Jeff Hsiao

Alumnus

Jeff received his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2017. As an undergraduate, he worked in the Shuvo Roy Lab and Tejal Desai Lab at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Within the Roy Lab, he developed mechanistic transport models for a novel silicon nanopore membrane used in an implantable bioartificial kidney. In the Desai Lab, he helped design microdevices fabricated through MEMS techniques for oral-drug delivery. Currently, he is an international fellow in the Andrew deMello lab after being awarded the 1-year Whitaker Fellowship from the United States. His research interests focus on point-of-care diagnostics through the paper microfluidic platforms.
