Cynandra opis species, endemic to tropical Africa, have brilliantly colored wings. These are formed by exceedingly complex regular surface features in the visible light wavelength range. Recently, our group successfully duplicated the surface structure of Cynandra opis, as well as other modified structures, using nano-3D printing technologies. With this idea, we can design structures that yield structural color in a convenient way. This work is been highlighted on ETH news, and also on Nanocribe news.
